Undergrad Research - CURO
CURO (Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities) offers undergraduate students at the University of Georgia the opportunity to engage in meaningful, faculty-mentored research throughout their college career—starting as early as their first semester. Whether you're pursuing research in the sciences, humanities, or any other field, CURO supports all students, regardless of major or GPA, in their academic growth through hands-on, progressive research experiences.
I decided to explore how textiles go beyond just comfort, protection, or aesthetics—things we often focus on when thinking about clothes or interiors. Most of the time, people pay attention to how textiles look or feel, but don't consider the practical aspects that emerge over time, like how long certain materials take to dry or how their drying time can be affected by how the fabric is woven. I wanted to dive deeper into these often-overlooked properties, examining how the structure and design of a material can impact its functionality, durability, and even its environmental footprint. CURO allows students to explore, pushing beyond traditional boundaries to create innovative, real-world solutions.
