About
I’m Sarah Margate, a textile and surface designer passionate about color, pattern, and texture. My work celebrates the craft behind every woven, printed, and dyed material, blending my love for traditional techniques like weaving, screenprinting, and patternmaking with a modern approach to design.
As a Dodd Ambassador, I value creative community—giving tours, planning events, and connecting students across art disciplines. I love when design voices speak together and move as one, creating harmony through shared vision and dialogue.
My collections often draw from cultural and architectural influences—Italian, Turkish, and broader European aesthetics—combining timeless craftsmanship with contemporary trends. I gravitate toward neutral palettes enhanced by detailed textural work, using natural fibers like jute, wool, and cotton alongside high-quality synthetics to achieve balance, durability, and elegance.
I’m inspired by works that emphasize structure, touch, and depth—pieces that feel handcrafted yet modern. My goal is to create textiles that transform interiors with warmth and cohesion, weaving artistry and functionality into every design.
Beyond fabric design, you'll probably find me running, hiking, painting, watching movies, playing video games— and the piano, exploring new places, or meeting new people!
Bringing Imagination to Space
My focus is on interior textiles—upholstery, bedding, and carpets—crafted to elevate spaces with immersive patterns and tactile depth. If you’re looking to bring unique, story-driven designs into your space, feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect!
